About me
Jordan Walker (Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Porou and Ngāi Te Rangi) grew up in Tūranga-nui-a-kiwa, (Gisborne). Jordan identifies as takatāpui. Jordan is a Creative, Producer, Artist Manager, and a Social Anthropologist interested in how people see value within the arts, they are also interested in access to the arts for marginalised communities, while sitting in on governance positions for takatāpui communities.
Jordan has 10 years of events experience within the arts with both cultural and music Festivals, working with the likes of The Garden of Unearthly Delights, WOMADelaide, Dark Mofo, Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival, Auckland Arts Festival and Splore. In 2020 they received the Māori Arts Internship through Toi Māori Aotearoa where they were placed in their hometown of Tūranga-nui-a-kiwa, with Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival as Producer Intern. They went on to work as Line Producer for Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival for the last 3 years across a number of community activations, visual arts, live music and theatre. In 2021 they were Assistant Producer for Witi’s Wāhine with Hāpai Productions, and later that year were cast as lead in the short film, He Takatāpui Ahau.
