About me
Tia Taurere of Whāea Productions is Indigenous from the Ngā Puhi / Te
Aupoūri / Ngati Kuri Nations of Aotearoa - New Zealand, born in the Kulin Nation of
Melbourne, Australia.
Tia has contributed as an Story Editor, Picture Editor, camera operator and DOP for numerous productions nationally and internationally including broadcast TV programming, news, short and feature films as well as Music Festivals. Tia led an all Indigenous camera crew for Indigenous Music Tours, she has premiered films at Māoriland, ImagineNative, VIFF and American Indian FF. Tia has been nominated twice for a Leo Award in the category of Best Editor for an APTN’s children’s series. She edited a documentary for PBS, collaborated with CBC’s Indspire Awards and Maori Television’s Te Ao News reporting at TIFF for the Premiere of JoJo Rabbit, a Taika Waititi film. She currently elevates her career as assistant Editor to James Cameron on the Avatar Series, Disney.
