He maha ngā kaupapa whakahirahira e kawea ana i tēnei marama,  nō reira, e ngā ringa raupā o te mahi pāpāho, pānuitia mai.

November is a busy month with many of our members supporting and documenting Hīkoi Mō Te Tiriti, as well as hosting and attending several Māori screen sector events.

I mentioned in our previous pānui that as an outcome from my attendance at the Public Broadcasters International conference in October I have joined a working group of indigenous delegates to explore how we can work together to strengthen indigenous representation in Public Media globally. Our first virtual hui is in December. I also formed several contacts for indigenous funders, commissioners and producers interested in co-production opportunities with Māori. Rather than doing a full report here (you’re all busy people), if you want further information and/or contacts please get in touch with me directly: kay@ngaahowhakaari.com

It’s more important than ever that we come together to learn, collaborate, celebrate and strengthen one another to ensure that our important mahi in the screen sector can best serve ngā iwi Māori.

We look forward to seeing you at some of these upcoming events.

Ngā mihi maioha,

nā Kay Ellmers
